Rabbi Batsheva Appel
Mussar is best described as “Jewish spiritual ethics,” and has been practiced for centuries by those seeking to cultivate and strengthen the qualities of the inner mensch. Mussar is undergoing a revival in the Jewish world, and we offer this curriculum created by the Mussar Institute, the leaders in the field. Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) has endorsed this program, which is suitable for all ages, regardless of your level of Jewish knowledge. There are no prerequisites, nor is Hebrew required. Come join in small group study, led by Rabbi Batsheva Appel, a trained facilitator, as we explore together in a safe and caring environment what Judaism has to teach us about humility, gratitude, equanimity, patience, order, and honor. Discover how you can improve these qualities in your own life.
All students will receive a copy of Everyday Holiness by Dr. Alan Morinis as well as additional materials for each of the middot, spiritual traits, that we work on.
