Moving Forward!

Hello Family and Friends!

In the November 2013 issue of the e-Temple Times, Deborah Fernandez-Turner introduced you to our initiative to bring Ron Wolfson's Relational Judaism to our Temple. She laid out Temple's primary goals, which are:

  • to demonstrate through this in-reach initiative that each congregant and their lives, values, thoughts and feelings are invaluable to our community. We strive to be an evolving and dynamic community and we subscribe to all levels of relational Judaism as well as the holiness of each person.
  • to identify patterns of how our future connections can be fortified, developed, and increased qualitatively and quantitatively.
  • to develop leadership, from both the participant and traditional view of leadership as we get to know our community on perhaps a deeper level.

In the December 2013 issue, Bonnie Golden reported to you about our first steps in this process which included an orientation for interviewers and development of best practices to conduct these interviews.

Since then several conversations have taken place. And we are looking forward to having many more. Remember that each conversation is strictly confidential and will help us connect to each other and identify our future direction. Each congregant who was trained has begun having individual conversations. We expect and encourage these to continue. In an effort to provide an opportunity for a one day leap in connections, we are offering a morning of conversations. All Temple members are invited to participate in the next event in our initiative to grow our congregation in an intentionally relational way. We'll be conducting one-on-one conversations to get to know each other better and learn what our hopes are for Temple Emanu-El. This event will be held at Temple on Sunday, February 16th from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. Please join us and feel free to bring a Temple friend. You can email Mona Gibson at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with any questions and/or to volunteer to be interviewed. We look forward to seeing you soon and having a meaningful conversation.
