MEET RABBI SHARFF
Rabbi Sharff arrived in Tucson in the summer of 2005. He currently is
serving as the Associate Rabbi for Temple Emanu-El. Rabbi Sharff
received his Rabbinic Ordination and Master of Arts in Hebrew Letters from the
Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2004.
Prior to rabbinic school, Rabbi Sharff attended the University of Texas in
Austin where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. Rabbi Sharff
is also a second-generation rabbi following in the footsteps his father who
served congregations in Virginia, Louisiana, and Texas.
Through his humor, knowledge, and love of Judaism, Rabbi Sharff has
steadfastly worked to increase member and non-member appreciation,
identification, and affiliation with our ancient and modern heritage.
During the past five years at Temple Emanu-El, Rabbi Sharff has also continued
in the tradition of outstanding teachers in the Temple Emanu-El’s Adult
Education Academy by teaching on a wide range of topics from Basic Judaism,
Tanaach, Jewish-Evangelical Relations, Jewish Magic, and Jews in Hollywood.
Rabbi Sharff has also spearheaded the drive to greatly increase Temple
Emanu-El’s presence in Northwest Tucson.
Rabbi Sharff is also the editor of The Comic Book Siddur, which was
created and illustrated by local Tucson artist and congregant Howard Salmon.
Rabbi Sharff is also the rhythm guitarist for Temple Emanu-El’s Avanim Rock
Band.
Rabbi Sharff met his wife Dr. Joy Sharff while she was pursuing her Medical
Degree at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Together they
are the proud parents of Emily Hannah and Noah Daniel.
