Youth Choir

There may be no better way to connect to the spiritual essence of Judaism than through song. Young people in grades 3-7 who sing in the Temple Emanu-El Youth Choir under the direction of Rabbi Samuel M. Cohon experience the joy of singing, learn more about Shabbat and Jewish festivals and have many opportunities to perform all year long. Singing with the Temple Emanu-El Youth Choir is offered as a chug (club or activity) option for 3-7th graders through the Kurn Religious School. Choir members rehearse on Sunday mornings during Religious School from 11:20 am until noon. The Youth Choir performs at every Shabbat Rocks! family service, at the Greatest Hanukkah on Earth!, the Purim Extravaganza and at special events and concerts in Tucson and elsewhere in the state of Arizona.

Young people who have completed their B'nai Mitzvah are invited to join the Temple's Teen Choir. The Teen Choir sings at High Holy Day services, at the Greatest Hanukkah on Earth! celebration, on other festivals and special events. The Teen Choir meets on Sunday mornings from 11:25-noon; the same time as Religious School chugim.  Lively, fun music, great leadership from Choir Director Chris Tackett, and the camaraderie of their peers makes singing in the Teen Choir an amazing activity for teens.  For more information about Teen Choir, contact This email address is being protected from spambots. The Adult Choir adds to the depth and breadth of musical expression at Temple services, and not for nothing, the choir members have a blast. The Adult Choir sings at Shabbat, festival services and special events once or twice each month and rehearses on Thursday evenings between 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm starting on Thursdays.
